Another BBCode Suggestion

Got an idea to help make this a better place?

Another BBCode Suggestion

Post by kathlynn »

So, on various other forums, usually for spoilers (iirc), that hides and minimizes the text/image displayed. I think this would be a great addition to the forum, to use in place of larger spoilers or trigger warnings, even large images (if one isn't able, or unsure of how to resize them). (one of the sites is Roliana which uses phpBB3).
Instead there would be a small box, in fact Roli's looks very similar to the "code BBCode box, and when hidden, the space taken up is equivalent to a line of text. Of course if this is not possible I completely understand. Personally, if I had to choose between the two spoiler types I would choose the block of black, since it is more adaptable, since can be used to trigger just a few words in addition to paragraphs.

Code: Select all

 Visual example

it would not be used to replace trigger warnings like this example just a few words, here nothing to see
Actually, here is a direct example taken from the site:
I fuss over details, loath absolute/blanket statements, and probably over think everything I do.

I like the idea! Let me check with the team if we can implement it.
The difference between the truth and a lie is that both of them can hurt, but only one will take the time to heal you afterward.

*happy squeal* I'm glad that you like it. Hopefully it can be easily implemented.

umm...what happened to the hide bbcode? It was there and worked (Even on my tablet) and now it's gone.

Testing to see if stuff stays hidden in quotes.

EDIT: Success! :D

Are there any other Tapatalk users who have probs w the hidden text? I use my phone for the internet pretty exclusively (Android), and while Tapatalk handles the spoiler tag just fine, the TW tag doesn't work at all--all text not under a spoiler tag is exposed all the time.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with Tapatalk to know if I'm missing something in its set up, or what, which is why I'm wondering if anyone else has probs with the TW tag!
If there's a problem the judicious application of goats won't fix, I don't want to know about it.

There's a problem with having more than one hide box in a post. Even if you click on the later ones, it's the first one only that opens.
There is hidden text below. Click Show to see it.
This gets shown all the time

This doesn't get shown at all

I don't think this shows up either
